Streets Alive is an “open” streets event, one of the most potent developments in the livable cities movement.Livability means healthy citizens and a healthier environment for Evanston. Streets Alive and other open streets events close streets to motorized traffic in order to open them to walking, jogging, bicycling, dancing, skateboarding and more. Streets Alive create new public space where everyone can freely enjoy culture and community, and try out healthy, green forms of transportation.
